The Spirituality and Invisibility of God

I am combining God’s spirituality with Gods invisibility for this discussion. God’s spirituality means God is spirit. Since God is spirit, He forbids any graven images or any carved or painted images that we can imagine. The images of our imagination would be idolatry.
You shall not make for your self any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; (Exodus 20: 4.)
This verse should make it clear that God is like nothing in all of creation. There is nothing created that looks like or feels like God in any way. We are created in His image, but God has no flesh. How do we share in Gods spirituality? If you are born again, God has given you a spirit in which you can worship Him through Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can know Him and experience Him in this way. For the rest of the discussion on God’s spirituality, I am going to ask you to refer back to the study of God’s Omnipresence, which is on the blog at godsoldman.blogspot.com.
Invisibility is the nature of spirit. God can manifest Himself so that He may be seen. Throughout the old testament, God reveals Himself As the angel of the Lord, and in bodily form for the benefit of those to who He is speaking. In some cases, few cases, He manifests His Glory so that it might be seen. Moses was hidden in the cleft of a rock, and God covered him with His hand so Moses could not see His face, to see God’s face would have meant death for Moses. In Isaiah 6, Isaiah sees God on His throne and believes he is going to die because he has seen the King, the Lord of glory. These are called theophanies when God appears in bodily form Like when He wrestled with Jacob or spoke with Abraham, and these manifestations are called Christophanies. Man cannot see God’s invisible self without some help from God.
How do we share invisibility with God? In a couple of ways, one way is we are created in God’s image. God created us with a soul which is invisible to the human eye, and we were spiritually alive before the fall. The most important way we share this attribute with God is through Christ our Lord and the Holy Spirit of God. The invisible Holy Spirit now indwells us if we are born again in Christ. As Christ was the living representation of God on earth, “Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’”? (John4:9), whoever sees us should see Christ in us. The world should get a taste of the invisible God through our lives, not because we are good, but because of Christ in us. We are indwelt by the invisible God not because we are that good, but instead because the invisible God decreed that we should live.
The next Attribute will be God’s knowledge or God’s omniscience.
I thank God every day for those who read this blog on Facebook or however they read it. I seek God’s blessing of salvation first for you, and wisdom and understanding for you and for me. I don’t write because I think I know more than you. I write in the hope that somehow, I am in service to the Lord in some small way. I desire to honor God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. So, if you think about it would you pray with me that this blog always honors God. Thank you.

The Supremacy of God

I will define the supremacy of God as; All the Attributes that make God supreme. We have gone over all the incommunicable attributes of God, and indeed all of His incommunicable attributes apply to his supremacy. The attributes of Independence, Unchangableness, Eternity, Omnipresence, and Unity all are part of His supremacy. If anyone of God’s incommunicable attributes were lacking, He would not be supreme. If, for example, He was dependant upon anything or anybody, He would not be supreme. If He were mutable/changeable, He would not be supreme. If He were not everywhere present and had to rely on others to know what was going on, He would not be supreme. If His attributes were not in perfect harmony, working perfectly together and He was able to go on a tirade or an emotion-driven rampage because of a lack of unity in His attributes, He would not be supreme.
Then there are his communicable attributes. His Omniscience, Omnipotence, and many more. If He were not all-knowing or, Omnisciencent, He would not be supreme. If He was not all-powerful, or Omnipotent, He would not be supreme.
If anyone or anything could be higher than God in any regard, He would not be supreme. No one or nothing can Love like God, show mercy like God, be Jealous Like God, or display wrath like God. No one or nothing can be all of these attributes and remain in perfect balance or have all of these attributes work in perfect balance like God.
God is supreme, and because he is supreme, He alone is worthy of all praise and honor and Glory.
We wrap up our study of God’s incommunicable attributes and move on to His communicable attributes. Communicable attributes are attributes we are privileged in some small way to share with our creator. Because we share these attributes with God, in no way are we as God. Remember this is the original lie of Satan from the Garden. Don’t fall for it.
It is my prayer that God will use this blog in some small way to expand our view of who God is, and He will be merciful to us who read it and the writer as well.

God’s attribute of unity

Unity is defined as; God will not be divided by His attributes, all of God’s attributes are equally important and are equally who He is.
God is a God of love, but He is equally a God of wrath. God is a God of mercy, but He is equally a God of justice. These are just a few of His attributes, and one attribute does not take precedence over another. All of God’s attributes will be and are being fully met, equally, through God’s plan of redemption.
The cross does not just show us God’s love and mercy, but it shows us God’s wrath and justice. The cross shows us God’s attribute of longsuffering, through His redemptive plan, unfolding before our eyes in history. The cross show’s us God’s sovereignty in how He fulfilled every prophecy concerning Christ and what was to happen to Him and through Him. Shall I go on, or do you not see how all of God’s attributes are on full display for all to see and to bring glory to God.
It is true that because of our finite comprehension, we can not see or find it hard to understand the totality of God’s attributes. God slow roles His attributes out to us showing or highlighting one attribute at a time to us so we can grasp them with our finite mind. When studied carefully, you will find every one of His attributes in the cross of Christ and also Christ Himself.
Why is this important? If you have followed this blog and have been reading about the attributes of God, it is essential that you understand that today’s view that God is love is accurate.  At the same time, it is not a complete view of God.  Expand your mind and see that God is so much more.  As we move forward, bear in mind that God is not love and love alone. God is equally all of His attributes.
As always may the God of all creation have mercy on us through our Lord and our God Jesus Christ.
